He wrote a column , not for Audubon, but for the Orlando Sentinal , in which he advocated the killing of feral cats instead of the use of trap-neuter-release. It has also apparently been edited by the newspaper since it was originally published to make it more palatable for the crazy cat people.).

My first intake was … a cat-caught Northern Mockingbird. The bird was stripped of feathers and so badly battered that euthanasia was probable. A year later, in a new city and at a new wildlife hospital, I got my official volunteer apron and badge.
