Environmental groups have called on Obama to get rid of the USDA's Dept. of Wildlife Services , which is involved in mainly predator control programs (coyotes are a big target). Animals killed also include threatened and endangered species, a number which has steadily increased since 2005. Ranchers oppose the move.

Further down the road, we reach a derelict building with a large veranda hidden among the trees – an abandoned hunting lodge (if I were in a situation to invest, I would choose to upgrade this into a luxury wildlife lodge). I was in contact with a group of birders for whom I arranged and guided an annual tour to Africa. According to the World Bank, up to 80 percent of Ghana’s forests had been destroyed by illegal logging by 2008. The rare Rufous Fishing Owl was one of the many species seen by the group here. million hectares in 2007.

The Congolese rangers protect the wildlife in Virunga National Park, the most famous inhabitants of which are the 700 remaining mountain gorillas. Tags: virunga rwanda africa congo gorillas endangered species. These rangers are very brave people with possibly the most dangerous jobs in the world.
