Over the last two weeks, we raised our faces and sniffed. Not only did this lead to the historical demand that fire be suppressed — it also created, I think, an emotional, aesthetic reaction to burned landscapes. For us here in the valley, though, at least it cleared the air. On the whole, people do not value them.
