Here's my response on medical research in general. I recently had a discussion about medical research using animals. There is more and more evidence that animal testing is NOT necessarily the best route to take. This story on HIV research is one example. Perhaps it was a necessary “evil.”

I particularly question the use of chimpanzees in medical research. I recently was escorted through a large primate research laboratory by its director. If they are "only" animals, if they are beasts which abstract not, then my comparison is a piece of sentimental foolishness. But chimpanzees can abstract.
