Not only did this lead to the historical demand that fire be suppressed — it also created, I think, an emotional, aesthetic reaction to burned landscapes. They receive no protection, and are often destroyed by salvage logging as quickly as possible. On the whole, people do not value them.

Although this park was logged in the past, as a national park it is one of the few forests in Ghana that is really protected. . All these forests are in “protected” forest reserves, however at some, logging permits are reportedly being issued for harvesting of these forests. What makes Ghana so special?
