On March 11th, RPA sent the governors of all 50 states a letter and two factsheets urging them to help get their land-grant universities (LGUs) out of the meat industry. Take a moment to tell your governor you agree we must get our LGUs out of the meat industry. Many say you can’t eat meat and be an environmentalist.

The meat industry will say yes, of course, all animals are treated and killed humanely. For some people, it is inhumane to eat meat in any situation, no matter how well the animal is treated prior to and during slaughter. And if you ever drive around an egg farm, hog farm, slaughterhouse, feeding lot, etc., Here is my opinion.

And the wife says that one thing the family does is eat less meat and eggs (and they raise the animals on their land), but even that is glossed over. All these would have to be tagged if the National Animal Identification System becomes mandatory, and for no purpose, because none of my animals will be sold overseas for food. I expect that the industry groups would like to put my farmer friends out of business with the costs and hassles of tagging their animals, to eliminate competition.
