Quite possibly, this laughingthrush is now locally extinct in Switzerland or at least in Basel. Wikipedia reports that he “was an excellent tennis player and an enthusiastic big game hunter. Some like Charles Vaurie have considered it so unreliable that they even suggested the destruction of his egg collection.”
