If I had known that these Amanita caesareas smell pleasantly of eggs, I would have taken a sniff. I immediately remembered the Sandra Boynton cartoon of an elephant lying down while turkeys stand upon it, with the caption “Don’t let the turkeys get you down.” Then I saw its shiny partner.
