Like crows and jays, they are social, vocal, intelligent, and omnivorous (including eating eggs and nestlings). This species also tends to forage in pairs or small family groups. The irony is that toucans are actually a lot like jays, so much so that they somewhat fill the niche of Corvids in many Neotropical regions.
