Many Red-eyed Vireos have seen Harpy Eagles , have kept still upon hearing the haunting calls of forest-falcons. I’m sure quite a number just keep on going through the tropical night sky, find their way to woods in Nicaragua or further north but a good number do indeed stop in Costa Rica, go birding there now and you will see them.

Harpy Eagle! The biggest birding news for Costa Rica was a sighting of an adult Harpy Eagle in northern Costa Rica , near Boca Tapada. Their local guide excitedly confirmed the bird as a Harpy Eagle (only the most dearly wanted species for every birder in Costa Rica), took photos and video, and spread the news.

A birder needs access to large areas of mature forest that also offer up chances at seeing glittering flocks of tanagers, checking out the tail bobbing behavior of cool antbirds, and glassing a hawk-eagle or two.
