Wedge-tailed Eagles roam the skies, along with Brown Falcon, Black Kites , and Nankeen Kestrels. This Pied Butcherbird was right at the base to Ayres Rock. This Wedge-tailed Eagle was sitting along side one of the roads, eyeing a small road killed Kangaroo. But the diversity, that I have found to be Australia, remains.

Birding across the north of Australia in July

Red Kangaroos often stood in the middle of the single lane bitumen across the north of Australia and were in no rush to move on. Red Kangaroos. Another constant problem to be aware of when you are travelling these highways with constant distractions like Wedge-tailed Eagles standing on carcasses are the stray cattle.
