At the far end of the lake stands a tall, dry tree with an eagle that we are struggling to determine and it remains a dark silhouette far too far. Somewhere below that mysterious eagle, at the far shore of the lake, lies one Bengal Tiger … and further to the right – two more! The closer one raises her head, than lies back.

How To Help A Baby Bird

If you cannot find the nest or it’s too destroyed, do not try and raise a chick this young. It’s illegal to raise wild birds (even orphaned ones) without state and federal permits. Young raptors like the above Bald Eagle chick are a different matter. Never raise a wild goose or duckling yourself.

Spotlight: Lisa Beth Acton, Raising Ravens

She has a captive-bred education bird named Xena, a Eurasian Eagle Owl. This summer Lisa raised three orphaned Common Ravens. They were not aware of wildlife laws, and thought they could raise and release them. We decided to raise them, and hoped they would wild up quickly if we followed the protocol for avoiding imprinting.
