The African Wild Dog. The list kinds crystalized during my first big trip, on which I knocked off my two big targets (the manta ray and whale shark) but since then beyond seeing an antelope (and then many other different kinds), it hasn’t budged much at all. A beaked whale. Any beaked whale. Hammerhead shark.

Deer, cattle, camel and goats are more closely related to dolphins and whales then they are with horses. . " Which was similar to what their leader would say for them to get out of the water.

Bonus : A couple of years earlier, a blue whale washed up several miles south of Half Moon Bay, at Bean Hollow State Beach.

Africa: Two more shadows in the spotlight, two of the most endangered carnivores of the sub-Saharan Africa are coming along the road, toward us: African Painted Dogs (Wild Dogs). We are observing a Dhole, also called Asiatic or Indian Wild Dog. A hundred metres down the track, several more Dholes await us, totalling eleven dogs.

And at the same time, Woolly-necked Storks have modified their behavior to survive even in urban gardens where they scrounge for dog food on back porches!

On the mainland they face predation from domestic cats, dogs, genets, mongoose and Cape Gulls which steal their chicks and eggs. Sharks, Cape Fur Seals and even Killer Whales will prey on them in the ocean. Part of the 3,000 strong penguin colony at Boulders Beach, Cape Town.
