Twenty-five Puerto Rican Parrots are being groomed to be pioneers: The Critcally Endangered birds have been transported from existing colonies to the Maricao State Forest.

They took dogs to Australia, chickens across the Pacific, rabbits to England, horses to the New World, and then brought potatoes back. Part of the world they wanted to transport was natural. We don’t have monkeys, or wildebeest, or salmon here. In many ways, that is exactly what happened.
