Some people are seeking purebred animals or puppies and think these are not available in shelters. Often these puppies or kittens are not placed in homes, and end up in the shelter. Puppies are great but often people are much happier getting a dog who is older, and whose size and temperament is a known quantity.

And while you’re bundled up in your warm jacket and roasting next to a fire, it’s important that your pets are just as protected from the cold as you are—especially smaller pets, old/sickly pets, and new puppies/kittens (they are exceptionally vulnerable to cold).

Right before Christmas on December 23rd, orphan dogs and cats available for adoption visited the New York Stock Exchange to ring the closing bell and raise awareness for pet adoption! Also joining the group was the Iams Home 4 the Holidays Adoption Angel Jack with his adopted dog Jane (Jack adopted Jane from Bideawee in October).
