Abby, I too get very upset by stories and images of what occurs every second of every day to nonhumans and humans alike. And I know that, for instance, I simply don't have the skill set to be an undercover person who documents abuse. I rescue, I adopt, I do TNR, and I connect others to resources to do the same. Swift Care Ontario: Sometimes It Takes a Village

As a result of human interference, four Chimney Swift nestlings had to be rescued. The release was beautifully documented and videotaped by the talented photographer Paul Roedding , and recorded as a blog on his website. What turned out to be an epic journey began in Nova Scotia, one of Canada’s Atlantic provinces.

The Warbler, the Birder, and the Bivalve

And, Eric saying something about rescuing a bird! But, it is a documented bird threat! I haven’t found any articles on Atlantic Coast birds being injured by these dangerous mussels (which are also not very tasty to humans), so I’m thinking that our birds somehow know better. It is a filter feeder, not a bird eater.
