While snakes protect their eggs, and may protect their young for a short period of time after they hatch, baby snakes are very soon on their own. What if all else fails and there are definitely no parents around? Call a wildlife rehabilitator! No birds feed their young milk. No birds feed their young bread, either.

That was definitely a bad sign; it’s almost impossible to just walk up to and snatch a healthy adult wild bird. Opening the carrier door was a bit uneventful, as neither bird chose to leave immediately; they wanted to make sure the coast was clear before leaving their protective confines.
