I might have to add the Dallas airport staff to the list of things Buffon was right about. Large groups of Hooded Merganser , Redhead , Franklin’s Gull , and other floaters were easily spotted. My hosts could confidently tick off the species on their life list. I flew into Denver from Mexico. I ticked off 9 lifers.

The Littel Big Year – Week 45: Wrapping up the Bahamas

We also got an extra stop in Dallas, Texas (Hey wasn’t I just here) but again no birds could be added, unless I count the House Sparrow flying around inside the terminal. By the time we had ended our visit on the island, I had racked up a total of 58 birds species, with 27 of them new birds on the Little Big Year list.

Birding Morelia

One of the advantages of Morelia as a birding/tourist destination is that we receive direct flights from Houston on United, Dallas/Fort Worth on American, and Los Angeles, Oakland, San Jose (California), and Chicago/Midway on the Mexican carrier Volaris. One species of interest is more common on Punhuato than in los Filtros: the Spotted Wren.
