Like a "BBQ, pony rides and a petting zoo!" When I started thinking about trying to get the association to cancel the pony rides and petting zoo (which are often part of one business as a quick Google search of " traveling petting zoo " will demonstrate), my several-year vegan husband said, "What's the use? It boggles the mind.

It's an adult male macaque suffering from zoochosis. According to the article, "Zoochosis is a term used by animal rights activists in reference to the degrading effect of zoos on animals that have been kept in captivity over a long period of time. Tags: India animal cruelty macaque zoochosis. Poor monkey!

Dunayer devotes a chapter each to the language used in hunting, zoos, "marine parks," vivisection and "animal agriculture." Each year, US zoos label thousands of nonhuman animals 'surplus' and treat them accordingly" (87). In their publications, vivisectors virtually never state that they inflicted the harm suffered by their victims.

If you like animals you will generally not want them to suffer and you won’t want them to go extinct. Animal rights is concerned with preventing the suffering or even use of animals by humans. You cannot care about the individual, not at that level of suffering.
