Clearly, there's no spay/neuter program in this place. But there are animal rights activists in Mexico that will hopefully take notice and try to establish some kind of long-term and humane solution. Animal rights is concerned with preventing the suffering or even use of animals by humans. This is quite a big deal for an island group that had no mammals save bats for millions of years. But opposition to its use can be understood if you oppose cruelty. In New Zealand at least public opinion is generally behind 1080.
