Our aim of this week is to educate people about the cruelty of greyhound racing and of course call for an end to government grants to this business and our sights of course are to see an end to this cruel exploitive industry. That letter makes me want to raise a boy, just so I can see the impulse toward destruction and cruelty.

Not only are they killed in cruel ways, but it is well documented that they are raised in ways that cause them great discomfort and agony. The question that must be raised, however, is how the conclusion not to eat meat follows from this. The trouble is, of course, that it is not clear what tacit approval is supposed to mean.

It's too bad that Latimer's presentation is so obnoxious, as even when he raises what might be valid points, he makes you want to disagree with him. And one of that handful is the environment. Why do you suppose that is? Like I said, the entire animal rights "ethic" is both cynical and dishonest.
