San Diego Pelagic

In August, we took a family trip to beautiful San Diego, seeing SeaWorld , LegoLand , and the San Diego Zoo. Additionally, there are still a few regularly-occurring Pacific pelagic species that I have never seen. I ended up with five lifers, those two and Townsend’s Storm-Petrel, Least Storm-Petrel, and Cook’s Petrel.

Bird Butts and Other Matters

While in Mexico, up on the roof of a casa (where I was cooking something up) I saw a murmeration! The birds were too far away to identify, and I know more than one species does this, but if I had to guess they were starlings. If half the Warblers go extinct, that would be a lot of species but you’d still pretty much have Warbler DNA.
