During cold winters, the hunters retreated to the south, intent on quail and other game species. I am also from the Northeast, and seeing architecture that reminded me of New York and Connecticut and even my home state of Maine beneath southern Live Oaks and Magnolias felt a bit odd. The mansion itself was magnificent. But I liked it.

In Connecticut, a woman’s vehicle was totaled after she hit a turkey , flipped a few times and slid 100 feet into the woods. Deer season is challenging enough to navigate and but everyone seems to wear orange an hunters in trees are easy to spot. Turkey hunters…not so much. That usually involves a ghillie suit.

The migrants face many perils, hunters, predators, adverse weather conditions and lack of refueling opportunities due to habitat loss. Connecticut Warbler – Oporornis agilis. The beats have been out to line their route and cheer them along, wishing them bon voyage and a safe return next spring. Kruger NP Central Park.
