They may have no idea what they’re doing, but their compassion overrides their doubt. Explanations are simple: only a mother rabbit or a highly trained rehabilitator has a chance of raising and releasing a healthy wild bunny. And sometimes they even give us money, which elevates them to sainthood.

There was a poster in the lunch room with four cute animals (a dog, cat, rabbit and something else.) This adorable poster that draws you in to the sweet faces of these animals basically proclaims that it is a good thing to use their bodies for medical research, which almost always leads to pain and death. It was a jarring moment.
