Vagrancy in Birds: A Book Review

The book is richly illustrated with contributions from a group of birders/photographers who were fortunate to see and document many of the vagrants covered. There are many more factors than I imagined: compass errors, wind drift, overshooting, extreme weather and irruptions, natural dispersal, and human-driven vagrancy.

Just think, if no one was there to document this, would it really have happened? I have had similar experiences at Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge and you are so right on when you say “am I ever glad that I am a birder! It was a great experience. Were you and Jeff the only witnesses? What a spectacle indeed.
