This time, the Birding Rally’s participants were birding tour companies. The bulk of my lifers were on a trip to India in October/November but all the birds were surpassed by watching and photographing a Snow Leopard hunting and killing a Blue Sheep , so none of them are real contenders for BBOTY.

About a month before departure my clients asked me if we were going to the same sites in Ghana as the offerings of another, rather upmarket, birding tour company. Here local hunters had known about the colony and for generations had been harvesting the birds by simply picking the adults off their nests during the breeding season.
