Instead, they are summer visitors, moving up to Colorado in the warm months to breed before returning to wintering grounds in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Mexico.

Brown-capped Rosy-Finch This larger finch can be found in summer feeding on the edge of snow fields usually above 11,400 feet, which is timberline here in Colorado.

A Merganser Trifecta!

Common , Hooded and Red-breasted Mergansers all breed here, but Red-breasted is the more northerly of the group. However, a place like Colorado offers mild winters and there is usually open water scattered around the Front Range. Probably the most sought after merg in a Colorado winter is the Red-breasted Merganser.
