Later, Harry Fuller, President of the Klamath Bird Observatory, led us to an open meadow where we saw a pair of Great Gray Owls hunting in a meadow. Once endangered, they lead happy, protected lives, oblivious to the tourists who love them. Larry’s BBOTY – Great Gray Owl. Yes, it was an exceptionally good year.

Various bird species continue to be affected by those destructive days of deforestation and the subsequent edge effects but thankfully, protected areas were established before any of the regional or country endemic bird species were gone forever.
