Usually possums this small are with their mothers. A young bird, yet to reach flight, is extremely vulnerable to pet cats and dogs. Feeding and caging them from your own pet, is impossible. Birds, possums, same problem. It was chewing on the remains of a little bird that had fallen out of its nest.

Getting rid of rabbits and goats was something that had been done for many years, but it was generally thought that rats and cats would be impossible to remove from all but the smallest islands. Of particular interest would be the commitment of the islanders to give up having cats as pets. Insanely ambitious?
