That was my first trip to California Wildlife Center. My first intake was … a cat-caught Northern Mockingbird. The bird was stripped of feathers and so badly battered that euthanasia was probable. The next time I saw Puck, she was bounding for the crawl space with that sweet Mourning Dove in her teeth. I was mortified.
