We also try to re-nest uninjured baby birds so we don’t interfere with a bird’s breeding cycle. Sadly it has been a poor season so far and the Pied Oystercatchers are currently on their second attempt at breeding. Most of these birds had significant breeding plumage and had most likely only recently returned to the Broome area. I could rescue them all if there were not so many!

The most common species we see are the Stoke’s Sea Snake Astrotia stokesii , Dubois’ Sea Snake Aipysurus duboisii and the Olive Sea Snake Aipysurus laevis. She also monitors Pied Oystercatchers breeding along a 23km stretch of beach by bicycle and on foot. I hope you enjoy these photos!
