The draft Bill proposes a new regime of annual inspections and fees for dog breeders. Fine Gael and rural Fianna Fáil backbenchers have called for greyhound breeders to be exempt because the industry is already regulated by existing legislation.

Would such a bill lead to jurisdiction over puppy mill breeders as well? If it passes, it will encourage other states' ag industries to go on the offensive to protect their "raw materials.". And, of course, this board would be dominated by big ag's people, so I think they're right. There may also be unintended consequences.

Having a biological child isn't supporting an exploitation industry and at odds with the goal of the cessation of animal use the way buying from a breeder or pet store is.
