Best Bird of the Weekend (Second of September 2021)

Most of the birds I spotted this weekend are the same species I’ll be hanging out with all winter. Corey spent the last weekend before his son started school camping with family and friends in the western Catskill Mountains. Nonetheless, the sight of a Merlin pursuing prey in flight gets my attention any time of year.

Our Best Birds of 2020

So, I could capture it in all its owlish glory, complete with fake eyes at the back and nicely illustrating the capability of the owl to turn its head by almost 180 degrees in each direction.
