Further, a new scientific study suggests that these crows may have an advantage over other avians—like their cousins, the New Caledonian Crows , they are revealed to be tool users.

Interestingly, Chestnut-collared Longspur does appear under its brand-new official name, Thick-billed Longspur, though the description underneath uses the old name. How could I, the librarian, end up with an outdated field guide?

A second quick finding tool is the Visual Index of Bird Families on the inside front and back covers, presenting the 86 chapters in order with bird images, text, and page numbers.
