Painted Finch collect the charcoal from the fireplaces in the area. Continuing down the highway from Doolena Gorge towards Marble Bar you pass through a spectacular rock formation with a brand new section of bitumen. There were Zebra Finch amongst them too. . Doolena Gorge is always worth a visit for its natural beauty.

An information for those Indian readers of the blog who only know “Kingfisher” as a brand of beer: It is also a bird family. Apparently, while in Egypt waiting for a boat to return to Germany he collected specimens of the bird which is now named after him. Though I actually quite like zebras.
