I was really looking forward to this week’s installment of Birds and Booze. Imperial stouts are big, rich, dark beers that are favorite choices for aging in old spirits barrels, and with that name – an obvious Monty Python reference – I knew I could have a little fun writing the review (Dead parrot, anyone?). 0 feathers (Poor).

Proposal for the National Bird of Australia

It turns out that Australia has no official national bird (but we do have an official gemstone), and this is exactly the type of issue that can unite the fractured nation. Not that there is anything wrong with robins, they are fine birds, even if I prefer Pied Wagtails. Is this really the nation that gave the world Monty Python?).
