As devoted readers of 10,000 Birds know , the writers contribute checklists to a joint eBird account called the “ 10,000 Birds Collaborative.”. Many of the states with more than 200 species are home to contributors and/or have destination birding locations and/or are popular places generally.

Only several dozen of these swans wintered in the region (the region being, approximately, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming) and for some reason they were almost all at this river in this year, and on this day, they were right there in view. There are a lot in the Mississippi Flyway these days. Overall they are pretty amazing birds.
