Birding – While Camping – North Lake State Park, Greene County, New York

Our campsite was gorgeous North Lake State Park in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York, where the air is crisp, the forests are largely intact, and the bears force you to be careful about leaving food out when you go to sleep. Chacachacare Island

In contemplating a title for this blog post, I vacillated between historical and geological references. Chacachacare was also the site of a US Army base, a leper colony, and before that, a whaling station. Tobago of course bears a closer geological relation to the aforementioned Netherlands Antilles than it does to Trinidad.
