It is free to enter Serendip Sanctuary and as you drive or walk up the road into the parking area there are opportunities to see kangaroos and wallabies as you can see above. Hiding in plain sight just like they are all across Australia. Lara is about 20 kilometres from Geelong or 60 kilometres south-west of Melbourne.

It was completed in 1903 and it delivers water to the Goldfields area of Western Australia via a pipe that is over five hundred kilometres/three hundred miles long. The Australian Brush-turkey ( Alectura lathami ) is a common sight in the rainforests of Australia. A quick walk netted me some Atherton Scrubwrens , an endemic, as well as a Yellow-throated Scrubwren , a species that mostly occurs in southern Australia but has a small disjunct population around the Tableland.
