People, they argue, are more important than bugs, and besides, the money will help pay to protect other conservation land. Unsustainable hunting leads to extinction.

Where to See Kiwi (and other birds) During the Rugby World Cup

This makes it a particularly exciting time in New Zealand as the Rugby World Cup begins in two days, and the competition is being held right here in New Zealand (I would imagine they might be more excited if they hadn’t just lost two matches to Australia and South Africa, their big rivals in the Tri-Nations).

A Brief Coastal Visit to Oz

As my opening word suggests; the Sunshine Coast is located in Australia as the attached Google map illustrates. I am hoping that there is an appreciative audience here, willing to learn a little about down-under birds and wildlife. As in North America this tattler loves the rockier outcrops down here in Australia too.

Tiritiri Matangi Island

On my first visit to the island a few years ago I even found one hunting for sandhoppers and other assorted treats in the washed up seaweed on the beach.
