Migration hasn’t really kicked in, the breeders aren’t tied to breeding territories any more, and it is hot and sweaty outside. I must become a reverse Arctic Tern Spend northern summer in Australia and then return To the north once the sun has passed its zenith I think I’ll start this plan forthwith.

The nominate, was described from southeastern Australia. A couple of Island races exist on Kangaroo Is. It will come as no surprise to find that they live primarily on nectar, collecting it from flower blossoms with long brush-tipped tongues, but they will also take insects, especially to boost their protein intake for breeding.

So I thought I could give fair warning about one of the more dangerous birds out there, even more dangerous than the Lesser Goldfinch , and one of the more common and familiar birds of Australia and New Zealand, the Australian Magpie. Australian Magpies, like every other animal in Australia, are also dangerous. Australian Magpie!
