It had taken the company this long to get a team out to rescue any impacted wild animals. Imagine, though, the chances of being killed in a helicopter by a frigatebird! I was working at the San Francisco Bay Oiled Wildlife Care and Education Center , where the bird was taken. Oil was everywhere. I’m glad we lived.

At Least Five Dead Whales Around Bay Area

It looks like they are getting killed by ships as they try to eat krill. Researchers say the animals appear to be following abundant swarms of krill - the tiny, shrimp-like creatures that make up whales' favorite food group - right into the path of ship traffic. Really sad.
