Around 12 million animals are used each year in the European Union (EU) for research purposes. This became clear from a report addressed at the European Parliament (EP) session on May 5–7, which seeks to vote on a directive concerning animal research.

No wonder rBGH has been banned in Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Europe and Canada outlawed using hormones on dairy cows because of such human and animal health concerns. There is as yet no medical research showing the cost of several extra years of hormones flooding the system.
