In a recent case involving my own facility, an immature bald eagle was hit by a car. People passed the eagle often. Rehabilitators also cooperate with law enforcement on illegal activity, and even monitor emerging diseases in avian species. Will all rescued animals survive to have a happy ending?

At the far end of the lake stands a tall, dry tree with an eagle that we are struggling to determine and it remains a dark silhouette far too far. It is also quite good at mimicry, imitating species such as the Crested Serpent-eagle, the Javan Cuckoo-shrike and the Orange-bellied Leafbird. Nineteen days later we had racked up an amazing list of 436 species, including some of Africa’s least known birds such as Congo Serpent Eagle , Yellow-footed Honeyguide , Tessmann’s Flycatcher , Yellow-bearded Greenbul , Black-collared Lovebird and much besides. Another of Ghana’s forest gems, the seldom encountered Fraser’s Eagle Owl. .
