Flying in excess of 200 mph in a stoop, the Peregrine Falcon is considered to be the world’s fastest animal. I have been fortunate to get a visit from this beautiful raptor in the photography blind at Delevan NWR.

Crazy Flickers

I didn’t know much about Flickers until I started volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation center a couple of years ago. “They always seem to be flying into things.&# (Like cartoon animals always do). I dare you not to duck when that happens! For some reason, Flickers seem amazingly accident prone.

On the Freezing of Birds

I was watching a news segment on a wildlife rehabilitation center here in Florida. My animal rescue-life has had many phases. It was time to feed the bird of prey who was about to be released and while the rehabber was speaking with the interviewer someone emerged from a walk-in freezer with a tray of baby chicks.
