In Costa Rica, they become another sort of animal. There are also hawks, small owls that eat birds, cats near the ground, and snakes, always snakes. By morning, they are probably in Panama. They were always in pairs and their chittering calls were synonymous with the gentle buzzing of insects and wildflowers in sunny places.

Maybe even some 80% dark chocolate ( slavery-free , care of Equal Exchange--Panama's the kind we get). She has very few pieces of clothing (and most are secondhand) and many of her books and toys are secondhand (and we had to weed through them for animal use). Or the cat.
