Injured Bat, and now?

Had this little Bat in my Apartment tonight on the Floor. The bat is still alive but is pretty bad injured. I try to call NABU, an animal welfare, when someone is on their Hotline. I placed her/him without further inspection on a post on my balcony and hoped He/She flew away, but nope. She/He was still in the ground.

On "Compassion," "Nonviolence" and "Justice"

Because I've been thinking about the evolution of my own thinking--and languaging--regarding animal rights. Both animal rights groups and animal welfare groups use "compassion" frequently. Then again, so do people who kill animals for a living. After all, they "love" the animals they kill.

In responding to Suzie’s post defending wildlife rehabilitation I began to think again about the areas in which animal rights and animal welfare overlap with the field of conservation, and the ways in which they don’t. And people that work in either conservation or animal welfare tend to like animals.
