Animals as well as humans can suffer pain, deprivation, and unwanted death. An exception for vegetables is thus consistent with the categorical imperative; an exception for humans with respect to eating animals is not. Vegetables cannot.

Brief commentary follows this e-mail I received regarding greyhounds, animal rights and Ireland. Today it is a different situation, i learned from then about respecting animals and my life has been devoted to ending their suffering and torment. Need reminding why cruelty to animals is wrong?
