One complaint many of us have with "liberals" and "progressives" is that they tend to leave veganism and animal rights out of their sphere of concern.

And that means for the animal rights movement: Social entities like compassion, empathy and suffering are very important factors to motivate humans to change their behaviour. In contrast, abstract-rational entities, like personhood or rights, are not. I don't think it's one or the other. What do you think?

But I do think this issue of hunting sandhill cranes goes beyond the right to hunt. I knew I’d never heard that before.
