There is a list of human victims of captive snakes, including a 2-year-old girl who was strangled in her crib by a pet Burmese python who had escaped from its enclosure.

In an incredible juxtaposition to the fanfare of Barbaro, more than 100,000 horses were slaughtered last year in the United States and shipped to Europe and Japan for human consumption.

Nearly 70 percent of all the antibiotics produced are fed to farmed animals to prevent (not treat) disease. He thinks we would rightly "frame the matter as a dire political issue."
